Copier Rentals

Copier RentalI don't think anybody would disagree with me when I say that copiers are some of the most useful and important pieces of equipment for any business, small or large. However, copiers have many other uses that do not necessarily lie within the boundaries of an office building. For these uses, whether they be at a convention, trade show or conference, Rentacomputer.com offers the extremely convenient option of copier rentals.

Many people don't really consider renting a device such as a copier, though more people would highly consider it if they knew the different options they have as well as the savings they could earn. However, before you go looking into renting a copier, it is always good to know why you may want to.

Copier rentals make perfect sense if you need a copier for something like a corporate event, company marketing project, year-end financial report, temporary office, convention service or a personal special project. No matter what the need is, if it is short term or long term and a copier purchase just isn't justified, a copier rental is your best course of action.

Copier rentals from Rentacomputer.com come in many different varieties, all of which can be specifically tailored to your exact needs. One option provided by Rentacomputer.com is that of a Black & White copier rental or a color copier rental. Black & White copier rentals are the most popular due to the low cost of operation and upkeep. Color copier rentals are more expensive because color copying takes longer, requires more ink and the device overall is more expensive. However, color copying is essential if you are planning on using your copier rental to create banners or fliers. If you are just using it to print off memos or paperwork, then your best bet is to go with a Black & White copier rental.

However, there is more to a good copier than just being able to copy papers. A copier worth getting will also be able to handle other tasks, such as index cards, transparencies and other heavier media. Versatility in a copier is usually essential and it is also vital to rent a copier that will be able to handle anything you need or may need at any given moment.

Thankfully, if you don't know what you need, Rentacomputer.com can help you. A professional Tech Travel Agent will assess your situation and help determine what is the right rental for you, whether it be a color copier rental, black and white copier rental or even a printer rental. By going with a company that has been in the business for over 20 years, you know you are going with a name you can trust.

Questions to Ensure You're Outsourcing to a Green Company

Green PrintingLots of people and businesses are doing their best to make our world cleaner and more environmentally friendly by "going green". People are buying energy-efficient cars and companies are buying and producing more energy-efficient products in order to clean up the environment. Copiers are one of the biggest developments in "green technology" with many manufacturers trying to make extremely energy-efficient copiers. But how do you pick the right one?

In addition to going green in the office and getting an energy-efficient printer, a lot of companies will outsource printing jobs and look to do so with a company that is also being energy-efficient. The bad news is that a lot of places will claim to be "green" but it's the green from your wallet that they are really after.

So in order to pick the right print shop, you need to know a few key things to ask them before you jump right in. If you ask these questions, you should have no problem finding a company that is perfect for both you and the environment.

First off, you should inquire about what types of papers and inks the company uses. There is a plethora of green printing papers and inks available and if this company isn't taking advantage of them, you might want to look somewhere else. Next, you should ask if they recycle. Nowadays it is easier than ever to recycle and if your print shop doesn't, then they aren't being honest with you or the environment.

After that, ask how they handle their printing equipment. Are they using electronically efficient printing solutions? Do they leave their devices on 24 hours a day? These are clear indicators as to whether or not a company really does take green printing seriously.

These are just a few of the questions you can ask and, if you are truly green yourself, I'm sure you can think of a lot more. If you are truly looking for a real "green" printing solution to outsource jobs to, you should never hesitate to inquire as to whether or not the company you are entrusting your printing to is looking to help the environment or just says they are to make some more cash.

USAF Grants HP Contract for Printers, Supplies and Services

United States Air ForceHP just recently announced that the company has been competitively awarded a purchase agreement by the United States Air Force. According to a statement from the USAF, "The U.S. Air Force is demonstrating strategic leadership in driving operational efficiencies and lowering overall costs through fleet consolidation, standardization and the use of environmentally sound devices."

As a part of the United States Air Force Information Technology Commodity Council Semi-Annual Enterprise Buy for Digital Printing and Imaging capabilities, which is basically a blanket purchase agreement utilized by the United States Air Force for the procurement of IT services and products, HP will be responsible for providing a plethora of HP branded standard printers and multifunction printers to the USAF.

Under the terms of the contract, the printers and multifunction printers will include pre-installed, value-added capabilities like the HP Universal Print Driver, USAF-approved security settings and the use of a Common Access Card Reader in order to support authorized use and other secure operations. This contract agreement also includes provisions for HP Original Toner, installation services and a four year Care Pack warranty which includes enhanced technical support.

The United States Air Force selected HP to meet its goals for modernizing, standardizing and consolidating its imaging and printing fleet, lowering overall operational costs and minimizing environmental impact. This also includes a significant reduction in the consumption of paper while at the same time improving device and network security. These devices are currently available on AFWay, the USAF's portal for the purchases of IT hardware, software and services which provides users leveraged buying power, asset tracking and oversight.

According to the Executive Vice President, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Vyomesh Joshi, "The U.S. Air Force is demonstrating strategic leadership in driving operational efficiencies and lowering overall costs through fleet consolidation, standardization, and the use of environmentally sound devices. This leadership extends to the environment where the Air Force looks to HP for solutions that reduce carbon footprint and power consumption. HP is thrilled to build on our 20-year history of providing the USAF with secure solutions that improve productivity, increase efficiency and reduce cost."

HP's DBI-10B device and toner price is, at the moment, lower than the pricing outlined in the U.S. government's General Services Agreement, which establishes guidelines for long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms to provide access to commercial supplies and services at volume discount pricing. HP has been a strategic supplier of computers, both notebook and desktop, for over five years under a companion agreement. This agreement, as well as the previous one, is focused on leveraging USAF spending in order to improve mission effectiveness at lower costs with improved security built in at the factory.

The V.34 Fax Standard

fax machineWhen it comes to businesses communicating with other businesses and with customers, no solution is quite as important or quite as cost-effective as a fax. You may be thinking that fax machines are something you would only see in a movie from the 80's or in your grandpa's home office, but that isn't the case. Over 90% of businesses in the United States have fax machines in the office. In addition to that, the sales of fax machines has maintained a slow, yet steady increase over the past few years.

A lot of people and businesses have tried to forgo using a fax machine by instead opting to use emails. However, despite the growing popularity of emails, more then 7.5 million fax machines were sold in 2002 alone. To help stay the obsolescence of fax machines, a lot of manufacturers have made some recent advancements in fax technology. These advancements have resulted in a renewed interest in faxing in the business environment. One such advancement was the introduction of the V.34 fax standard. The V.34 fax standard is something that can help businesses increase productivity while reducing costs at the same time.

The V.34 fax standard, which was developed by the International Telecommunications Union, is the standard for full-duplex modems, sending and receiving data across phone lines at up to 33.6 Kbps. This is a huge improvement over the previous V.17 standard which ran at only 9.6 Kbps and allows the V.34 standard to achieve faster transmission times per fax page as well as greater adaptability to varying line conditions and a reduction in the number of resends per fax. These improvements result in cost savings from reduced fax phone bills.

Advancements like the V.34 standard are keeping the fax machine industry alive and kicking and are helping a lot of businesses save time and money.

Digital Copier Security, Inc. Announces Strategic Partnership with Australian-based Print Security

secure printersOne of the biggest threats we face today as a planet is identity theft. Identity theft is a worldwide epidemic that plagues businesses and consumers costing them billions of dollars every year. There are a lot of programs that are making waves in the fight against identity theft, though one serious threat is going largely unaddressed and that concerns the data stored on hard drives inside digital copiers. California-based Digital Copier Security Incorporated (DCSI) has recently formed a partnership with Print Security out of Australia in order to serve markets in Australia and New Zealand.

Print Security has a lot of experience in the copier industry as well as with print management services. According to Chief Executive Officer with DCSI Bill Feigles, "We are so pleased to have joined forces with such an experienced and well respected group of companies." Director of Print Security Jason Ganis added, "At Print Security, we share the same passion as Digital Copier Security and we are committed to championing INFOsweep and INFOclear products in Australia and New Zealand. More importantly, we see the need to raise awareness of this looming threat among consumers, businesses and government entities in the markets we serve."

In a statement from Founder and COO of DCSI John Juntunen, Juntunen states, "Our efforts in the United States have led to greater awareness and actions aimed at mitigating the threat to data security posed by digital copiers but there is still a lot of work to do worldwide. We see this overseas partnership as a natural extension of our activities." Feigles added, "We have been approached by entities in other countries and we are interested in moving into more markets. However, we want to be very selective about who we partner with in both foreign and domestic markets and Print Security was just a perfect fit."

Print Security is associated with other companies such as Smartprint Fleet Management, Laser Printers Direct and iFish finance through common management and will server as the exclusive provider of Digital Copier Security Incorporated's products and services in Australia and New Zealand.
